Lisa Otey: piano, vocal;
Harm van Sleen: bass; Fabrice Bessouat or Chip Ritter: drums
Lisa Otey has been a very dear friend to me, and I cherish the times we got to
perform together - on some of her albums, during several tours and some special
performances. I owe her a lot, not least of which was introducing me to Candye Kane
and United By Music, the latter of which has become an important part of my life.
Everytime we played together, magic would happen. When we went into the studio to
her first album with Diane Van Deurzen, she had broken her little finger the night
before in a car accident. Imagine playing the piano with a broken finger! In between
takes in the studio, she had to make phone calls to doctors and insurance agencies,
make visits to hospitals, and so on. We only had a few days to record so every hour
wasted was expensive and stressful. Buut not only did we manage to complete the album,
we wound up recording five additional songs that ended up on her next album. And the
album sounds great!
