What's new?

September 8, 2026 After some nice shows with Mr. Boogie Woogie, United By Music, Tim Kerssies and Men In Blues and resuming my lessons at Het Klooster I'm starting to feel well-oiled and warmed-up, so it's time to get ready for the next extravaganza: this Sunday, Arthur Ebeling & the Flat Tyre Shuffle Boys (that's Peter Wassenaar on bass/vocals and me on pedal steel/keyboard/guitar/trombone/vocals) will be performing in Groningen at EM2.

August 27, 2026 Sad news: our dear friend Peter Kalisvaart, who played drums in the original Mr. Boogie Woogie & the Firesweep Bluesband, unexpectedly passed away last week. We will miss him. Tonight I will join Mr. Boogie Woogie at the blues session in Red Kees's wonderful Cafe Ruimzicht, where Peter, Eric-Jan (Mr. Boogie Woogie) have performed a lot back in the nineties. Rest in peace, Peter!
Then tomorrow I'll get to play some old time jazz music with the Autoreverse Jazz Orchestra, and on Saturday all the United By Music bands will perform at the Bolderbraderie in Sliedrecht.

Had a great time performing with Wouter Kiers and Ron Walter last Thursday, and with Jaïr Stunt, John Rijsdijk and special guest Erik Koning yesterday! Also I decided to share another video of me jamming with myself at home, singing Cindy Walker's classic It's All Your Fault. Here it is:

A last minute addition to my performance schedule: this Thursday I will join Ron Walter and Wouter Kiers in the Plantage in Leiden. Ron is a wonderful singer with a few songs in his repertoire that are usually ignored by other singers.

What a great weekend with United By Music: three very well-performed and much appreciated shows; thank you Germany! So what's next? This Thursday I will be performing with Wouter Kiers at one of my favorite bars: Cafe Ruimzicht, better known as Red Kees. And as usual, you can join us at the jam session!

This week's shows: Wednesday the most talented students at the music school where I'm a teacher will present a diverse and unique spectacle. This will be a special occasion showcasing many exceptional singers, instrumentalists and dancers, and I'm very happy to be playing bass and trombone on some of these performances.
Then in the weekend I'll be off to Germany for three shows with United by Music, including a Blues Night in Osnabruck.

Other news: Grapes of Grain recently released a new album that has me playing pedal steel and violin on a few cuts.

I also got to play pedal steel on Pormes's recent release.

And a few years ago I contributed pedal steel to Kraak & Smaak's beautiful song All I Need which has now been officially released on their recent Velvet Seas album.

Please check the discography section for more details.

June 28, 2026 Recently I decided to stop using facebook, for numerous reasons but mostly because I dislike the huge amount of AI-generated idiotic clickbait that kept popping up everywhere. So if you would like to know when and where I'll be performing and what I've been up to lately, please check these pages regularly! On this page I will try to keep you up to date on new shows, new releases and other stuff.

Today two gigs: an afternoon show with the very wonderful Alex Siegers and Tim Kerssies, and an evening show with Men In Blues.
